Sometimes work sucks

This was going to be a big long rant about my current frustrations with my winter camp schedule, but as I was typing it turned out really bitter and I don’t mean to bad mouth my school on the internet. I actually really like my school a whole lot. Basically, this is what I have to say:

My Winter Camp is going to run through all of January and February. Every day… IN THE AFTERNOON. My normal hours are 7:40a-3:40p. My camp is being help 3:40p-5:50p. I am still required to come in for my regular hours. After taking out my vacation days that’s 26 days of camp.

Ten hour days for two months. Eight hours of desk warming every day, two hours of camp. 

If you are an EPIK teacher you know how absurd this is, especially considering some people don’t have camp or only have to come in for the few hours they do.

If you are a prospective teacher, don’t let me scare you away. This is a weird situation and I don’t know anyone else with this stupid problem. Most people I know are working within their normal hours and deskwarming outside of their camp schedule or being allowed to go home early. Also, most people only teach 1-2 weeks of camp.

Just a moment of self pity. 

…Who am I kidding? This is going to be two months of self pity.
