Outside Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, India
August 17-18, 2013

We took a sunset camel ride into the desert, slept on cots in the sand dunes, and rose with the sun and surrounded by beetles. My camel’s name was Cooli and he had a bit of a burping problem. Amanda’s camel, on the other hand, had a bit of a fit during our break in the desert but calmed down enough before the ride back. Even though I was very ill and fairly miserable, this was a memorable adventure and a gorgeous place. In the evening we enjoyed (well, I couldn’t eat…) an Indian meal and watched some traditional dancing along with other travelers and in the morning headed into the amazing fortress city of Jaisalmer.

By the way, in case you are interested in purchasing your own camel in Rajasthan, my guide says they run for about 300USD.
